Each year MoDOT challenges its divisions, districts, and individual employees to identify and share new ideas of completing tasks for all areas of the department. The goal is to find innovative ways to improve safety, save money, save time and simplify work. Innovations are grouped into three categories: 1) Tools and Equipment – items fabricated or modified by MoDOT employees; 2) Projects – efforts resulting in exceptional results for transportation users or internal operations; and 3) Productivity – office and field processes, materials and products. This session explores the practical and legal aspects, and provides a look into the successes of the MoDOT Innovations Challenge.
