                                                    Ali Makarachi is Director of Transportation Planning and Engineering Division at Northeast Ohio Area wide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) where he leads a team of  planners, Engineers, and modelers. Dr. Makarachi spent considerable time as a transportation consultant both in United States and Middle East working for American companies such as Corradino Group, AECOM and C&M Associates. He has also worked as a transportation planner at public sector such as City of Phoenix.
Ali holds two master’s degrees in Mathematics and Operations Research/Management and a PhD in Transportation Planning from The University of Birmingham in United Kingdom. He is also a certified civil engineer in states of Arizona and Michigan.
Dr. Makarachi developed several travel demand and traffic simulation models at the macro, meso, and micro levels for the Greater Treasure Coast Region, Florida, Tri-County, Michigan, the Riyadh Metro Line 1 and 2 corridors, Highway Network of Jeddah, and several subareas in Phoenix using TransCAD, CUBE, VISUM, and CORSIM modeling platforms. Modeling toll roads, infrastructure financial planning and street impact fee plans are other areas of his expertise.
