Tammy Stewart was named acting Communications Director at the North Carolina Department of Transportation in March 2024. She leads NCDOT’s Communications Office, which is comprised of over 30 employees.  She oversees the department’s external and internal communications strategies, which include social media and marketing.

Previously, Stewart was NCDOT’s Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications, the department’s Marketing Manager and has held various other communication roles at NCDOT over the last 24 years.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Campbell University.
