Will Reid was named TDOTs Chief Engineer and Deputy Commissioner in August 2022.
Focused on innovative and forward-thinking business practices, Will has led the department's initiatives to improve project delivery by establishing a culture focused on timely decision-making through reliable, efficient, and transparent processes with a primary goal to “deliver as promised.”
Will began working with the department in 2014 as Director of Construction. He advanced to positions of Chief Engineer over Operations and Assistant Chief Engineer over Program Delivery before TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley appointed him to the role of Chief Engineer.
Prior to joining TDOT, Will practiced transportation engineering as a consultant for more than 15 years, where his experience included highway design, project management, and construction engineering.
A native of Bartlett, Tennessee, Will attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a member of several professional and community organizations.
Will enjoys spending free time with family, attending his kids sporting activities, as well as hunting, fishing, and kayaking. Will and his family reside in Franklin, Tennessee.
