Name
B2. Building Successful Educational Campaigns for Diverse Groups
Date & Time
Monday, August 4, 2025, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Description

Presenters: Emily Deason - KYTC, ORX Project Manager; Mindy Peterson - Parsons, Public Involvement Director

Description: J-turn, roundabout, and zipper merge are not bad words! But they can create instant anxiety with the public. Whether you’re talking about an alternative intersection, a new idea, or simply project improvements, change can be intimidating. Uncertainty can breed opposition, and you don’t want that opposition to take root.  It’s important not to let negativity keep your project from getting off to a strong start. In this session, you’ll hear about an I-69 Ohio River Crossing (I-69 ORX) educational campaign that successfully turned the tide of public sentiment in Henderson, Kentucky, as six new roundabouts were introduced.

Moderator: Allen Blair - KYTC, Deputy Executive Director of Office of Public Affairs

Staff: Emily Montooth and Chris Congleton
