Presenters: Jonathan Albers - HDR Engineering, Inc., KY Transportation Business Group Lead; Jeremy Edgeworth - KYTC, Freight Rail and Waterways Coordinator
Description: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to improve and deliver a multimodal freight system that is safe, reduces congestion, and supports Kentucky’s economic growth. Two recently completed plans are Kentucky’s Truck Parking Assessment and Action Plan and the Statewide Rail Plan. This presentation will cover the innovative processes and tools developed for these plans. The truck parking plan developed a web-based Tableau dashboard to summarize the demand analysis and produced conceptual parking plans to assess feasibility. For the Rail Plan update, a public engagement campaign and a GIS StoryMap were utilized to solicit input from the public, officials, and industry. The presentation will also include an update on the status of the pilot program to upgrade the Truck Parking Information System (TPIMS) across Kentucky, one of the recommendations of the Truck Parking Action Plan.
