The WSDOT hydraulics team utilizes various technology such as 360 photos and videos, drone imagery, 3D scans of site features with LiDAR sensors built into the latest generation of iDevices, time lapse imagery, survey LiDAR, and other pertinent data files. The workflow puts all the data together into a virtual site tour that is viewable through a desktop computer or a virtual reality headset and is available to anyone. This allows team members and co-managers to “return” to the site, identify specific features and habitat, take rough measurements, and collaborate on restoration design using this virtual tool.
