Description

Behavioral Mapping to Quantify Complexity for AV Deployment
Paul Avery,
AECOM
As automated vehicles (AVs) become more integrated into our transportation systems, understanding their behavior management capabilities, and deficiencies, is critical. Unlike controlled environments (such as closed test tracks), AVs must operate on real-world roadways with diverse conditions and unpredictable interactions with other road users. This presentation will discuss a framework and digital tool for assessing an AVs’ ability to competently manage their behavior in unstructured environments.

Road Audit Tool for I-70 Truck Automation Corridor
Andrew Bremer,
ODOT; Nathan Sturdevant, INDOT; TRC Representative
Attendees will learn about an upcoming truck automation project on I-70 in Indiana and Ohio, which includes development of a road audit tool to gauge AV readiness along the corridor. Presenters will discuss challenges related to technology readiness and the role of infrastructure owner operators as we integrate automation on our roadways.
